Pyscodlyn is situated in the picturesque Usk Valley and there are walks from the campsite to suit all abilities. Gentle strolls can be taken along the river or you can venture up into the Black Mountains. The Sugar Loaf mountain can be reached on foot from the campsite, alternatively the main car park is a 10 minute car journey. Whether you prefer hiking in the hills or wandering in the woods and vales, there is plenty of variety for your walks! And you can reach the heart of the Brecon Beacons within half an hour by car.

We sell day tickets for trout or salmon fishing from Pyscodlyn for a mile and a half stretch along one bank of the river Usk on behalf of the Merthyr Tydfil Angling Alliance.

There are reservoirs within easy travelling distance. Coarse fishing is also available on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.

The famous Tumble climb up the Blorenge mountain is close by (as featured in many events including the Tour of Britain and Velothon Wales). For those looking for a more leisurely cycle there are numerous lanes to explore as well as the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal. Cycle hire can be arranged.

For mountain bike enthusiasts there are so many lanes, tracks and paths in the area. We are happy to provide you with routes. Bike Park Wales is approx 30 mins by car. Dirt Farm is 20 mins away.

There are numerous licensed trekking centres within a 30 minute car drive including Cantref Riding, Llangorse Multi Activity Centre Ellesmere Riding Centre and Grange Trekking Centre.

For those with a sense of adventure, explore some of the area with a tandem flight! We welcome many paragliders on our campsite throughout the year. This exhilarating sport has really flourished in recent years.

Day boat hire on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal can be arranged through Beacon Park Boats at Llangattock.

There is a great selection of pubs and restaurants within a short drive of Pyscodlyn; from pub grub through to Michelin Star dining we have it all! The Lamb and Flag Inn is the closest pub; a 20 minute walk from the site.

Both Abergavenny and Crickhowell have some wonderful independent shops with Crickhowell being crowned the winner of the ‘Best British High Street’ in 2018. Abergavenny is a bustling town with the market hall coming to life each Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Further afield are the towns of Brecon and Monmouth.

The Welsh Marches have more castles per square mile than any other part of Britain including Raglan Castle, Tretower Court, Abergavenny Castle, Llanthony Priory, White Castle, Chepstow Castle and Grosmont Castle.

Kentchurch Court, Dewstow, High Glanau Manor and Vedw House have well known gardens and within 1 ½ hours there is the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Dyffryn Gardens and Aberglasney Gardens.

Linda Vista Gardens in Abergavenny is a lovely location for a picnic or to link in with a walk around the castle meadows and Abergavenny Castle and Museum.

In Abergavenny, Baker Street Cinema and the Borough Theatre both have a packed programme of films and events. St Mary’s Priory is one of the largest Parish Churches in Wales. The adjacent Tithe Barn houses the Abergavenny Millennium Tapestry and an interactive display of the history of the town and Priory. In both Abergavenny and Crickhowell there are fabulous art and craft shops to explore and numerous galleries to enjoy.
